 How do I put my mantel over my brick fireplace?
 
RenoJoe, I am doing a little renovation within the home, and I want to attach a mantel to my brick fireplace. Do I drill into the brick or into the mortar?

I would recommend drilling the brick because the mortar joint will be weaker and might allow the mantel to come out of the mortar.
