  Miserable Bathroom

There is a nasty black scumn around the old plastic wall, where it meets the tub. Even the latex caulk has shrunk and the water from showering has worked it's way in and the panels are comming off. What can I do to avoid a $2,000.00 dollar shower job?

Remove the panels and allow to dry. If the walls aren't rotten, you can use 6-tubes of silicone and simple bracing to re-attach them. If walls are rotten and moldy, you'll have to cut them an inch below the panels and install green drywall. Then re-attach or replace the panels and caulk with white silicone.
