 What makes a better shower pan-fiberglass or acylic?
 
Reno Moe, I am having my dream house built and will have a shower built in my garage(don’t ask-I spend a lot of time out there!). What are the pros and cons of fiberglass versus acrylic shower pans?

Acrylic shower pans are probably the best, because it costs more…just kidding, but it does last forever and keeps the gloss. Another advantage is that acrylic is non-porous, so mold grime and soap scum doesn’t work its way into the material. Fiberglass has a gel coat the wears off and exposes the fibers and that's why it goes bad after so many years. Fiberglass costs less, but cannot compete with acrylic when it comes to long lasting solutions.
