Garage Flooring Alternatives
In Construction, Repair, & Improvement - more than a month ago

The garage is safe refuge for the car, van or truck. A garage floor usually consists of a dark, unfinished porous cement surface which collects stains and dust.

The solution may be to use tiles or other floor coverings which enhance appearance and make it more cleanable.  Unglossed ceramic tile is a good choice in the wamer climates only, as it will absorb moisture which freezes on the surface in winter months. Quartz tile is a better choice, as it comes in many medium colors and is cut to a rougher surface than ceramic/porcelain.

One of the most economic and DIY methods is epoxy paint. With good surface preparation and cleaning, this method offers both cost effectiveness and quick results. Epoxy paint comes with a hardening chemical conpound that must be mixed according to the instructed amount. Time is of essence once the chemical is well mixed, so be sure that the floor is completely ready before you apply it. Most importantly, your epoxy paint kit should include a bag of gritty material which will also be mixed with the paint before applying. This will prevent the surface from becoming slippery when wet or cold.
